Things to be balanced...

"budget" havnt decided if this is fully completed yet. I need to wait to get more magazines in order to finish this one.

"bank account" and i think my favorite part of this is the cat in the top left corner that I took from skymall magazine.

"act" this one is definitely done. Worked on this one all day today.

"checkbook" this was the first successful piece in the series, and in a lot of ways, could still be the most successful one.

I'm finding really good rhythms with this transferring process. I know which kinds of magazines work best, I know what to look for, I'm starting to realize how the colors stack, etc. I want to try using technology magazines. So far I've been having the most success with beauty magazines. I think the colors I'll get with a technology magazine would be different and perhaps darker overall.

Home and furniture magazines are not working out as well as I thought they would. Having been referencing furniture in some of my other collages that were more surrealist, I figured the imagery would transfer over to this process, but its a whole different beast.

Its interesting to see how some of my interests in my older work is bubbling up again in these transfers.

"Apparatus" This guy is from '07.

 

Coming straight from boarding school, I had been reading Itten color theory and wanted to try my hand at color fields and abstract expressionism. At my school I realized I could do lots of other things and then went towards animation and photography. I ended up back at these color fields with a few minor changes.

"Puzzle 03" From after my photo and animation classes in '08 and '09.

I was collaging before I knew I liked collage. I didnt see it as collage but in retrospect, my art continuum makes a lot of sense.
